Approximately, 44% of all undergraduate college students are enrolled at a community college. The community college offers students the opportunity to prepare for transfer to a four-year college or university, save money and take advantage of a flexible schedule. It serves an extremely important function that faculty often take for granted or don’t fully understand.

This topic will examine the role and functions that community colleges serve for post secondary students as they transition from secondary education programs to traditional four-year colleges and universities.
