Today’s higher education and training environments are among the most scrutinized and evaluated for evidence of instruction and learning effectiveness. The question of the value of what is learned and acquired is receiving intense scrutiny. In this regard, we are observing the emergence of a variety of quantitative and qualitative assessment and evaluation approaches, methods and strategies that offer measures of evidence that is both valid and reliable. They, in effect, offer a clearer perspective on the effectiveness of instruction and training undertaken by students and trainees as they grow, develop and learn through courses, seminars and field experiences.
