Course syllabi and outlines have long been viewed as essential “road maps” for explicit and well-planned instruction and learning. Essentially, they represent the equivalent of a contractual agreement between the course instructor and/or organizational trainer and the student/trainee. Well delineated course syllabi and outlines contain explicit detail regarding the structural integrity of a course including its purpose, learning expectations, content emphases, course schedule, time allocations, and other important considerations including course continuity, assignments, activities, course assessments and other policy statements.
